Siebold three-course dinner, April 3 - Augustus 30 at
Okura Hotel Amsterdam
From 3 April through 30 August Okura's Le Camelia Brasserie will be serving
a Siebold three-course dinner for € 30. This dinner is inspired by the
favourite dishes of Dr Von Siebold, known amongst the Japanese as one of the
most famous Dutchmen in Japanese history. You can use this special dinner
also aas part of an Japan Year Package.
Holland & Japan: 400 Years of Trade, February 11 - May 11
at Rijksmuseum Schiphol
The exhibition examines the privileged position Dutch traders enjoyed on the
isolated island of Deshima and the artistic and cultural interchange that
resulted from their commercial contacts. Among over 20 works presented in
the show are lacquerware, porcelain, a screen and paintings from the
Rijksmuseum collection.
Silk Stories, Taishō Kimono 1900-1940, March 28 - June 21 at Kunsthal Rotterdam

An exhibition about the development of the kimono, in the form of
various fabrics, hand made decorations and new techniques takes up central
position.
